The Group comprises 3 divisions: EMJ Pharmacy, EMJ Farm, and EMJ Mini-Market. We pride ourselves on being an independent Gambian business in existence since 2012. History
Mr. Ebrima Jallow, the proprietor and founder, began his business journey in 2004 alongside his father, Mamadou Jawo Jallow, who owned the business JJ & SONS ENTERPRISE. In 2012, Ebrima Jallow established his own business, EMJ Enterprise. After registering EMJ Enterprise, he began business operations with ATTA Trading.
In January 2021, EMJ Enterprise was officially incorporated as EMJ Group Ltd., with Ebrima Jallow as the majority shareholder. He was appointed by the shareholders as the Chairman and CEO/Managing Director of EMJ Group Ltd.
The idea of forming a group emerged as the business achieved success across various branches. To unify these ventures under one structure, EMJ Group was established, now employing over 100 full-time and part-time staff. EMJ has become a household name and a respected brand in The Gambia’s business sector, with Mr. Ebrima Jallow at the helm of its success.
EMJ Group began with its first mini-market, offering a wide range of consumer goods. In 2015, the company expanded into the pharmaceutical sector, launching its first small pharmacy in Gunjur, followed by another in Lamin. These later developed into a fully-fledged pharmacy brand named after its founder. EMJ Pharmacy ensures that quality medicines are accessible and affordable to the Gambian people.
Today, EMJ operates as both a retailer and wholesaler, supplying hospitals, clinics, mini-markets, and pharmacies. The company now runs five EMJ Mini Market branches and has expanded into the grocery sector, making it convenient for customers to find almost everything they need to maintain, beautify, and enjoy their homes.
